On site installation and construction of AAAC conductors for rural distribution network in West Africa
The distribution network renovation project is located in a rural residential area of a town in West Africa. The area is mostly made of rammed earth houses and self built brick and concrete houses. The roads are simple sandy streets and alleys. The original old overhead lines have problems such as thin wire diameter, aging insulation, high power supply voltage drop, and frequent disconnection faults. In order to improve the stability of regional power supply and expand the residential electricity load, AAAC aluminum alloy overhead wires will be replaced along the entire line, and cement poles, supporting outdoor fittings, and pole mounted distribution equipment will be built simultaneously to complete the upgrade and renovation of the old power grid.

The traffic conditions in the streets and alleys on site are limited, the bearing capacity of the sandy road surface is weak, there are dense residential areas, many large trees on the road, and the construction space is narrow. High altitude work vehicles are used in conjunction with manual segmented laying and tight line construction, which is suitable for the complex construction environment in local rural areas.
The West African rural residential area distribution network upgrade project relies on the core advantages of AAAC all aluminum alloy conductors, such as lightweight, high temperature resistance, strong corrosion resistance, and controllable sag, to perfectly adapt to special on-site conditions such as sandy streets and alleys, high temperatures and sandstorms, and limited construction space. Compared with traditional ACSR steel core aluminum stranded wire, AAAC conductor has outstanding advantages in construction convenience and long-term operational reliability in rural distribution network renovation. It is the preferred solution for overhead distribution lines in tropical, dusty areas, suburban and rural areas, and can provide standardized construction reference for similar overseas grassroots power grid upgrade projects.
