Application of Overhead Cable in Rural Projects in West Africa
The construction team is lifting and laying overhead cable reels in rural areas of Africa, which are mainly used for:
1. Construction of rural power distribution network: Low voltage power transmission in villages and towns, supplying power to local residential areas and small public facilities, erecting poles next to roads, and covering scattered village residents.
2. Expansion of power grid in remote areas: For rural areas with dispersed population and mainly sandy soil, outdoor overhead power lines should be built and regional basic power infrastructure should be established.
3. Rapid implementation of power engineering: Vehicle mounted crane for on-site loading and unloading of cable reels, convenient construction, suitable for outdoor village and town power renovation projects.

Compared to buried cables, overhead lines are susceptible to strong winds, trees, and lightning strikes, and require supporting insulators and lightning protection accessories. But in the large-scale popularization of power supply projects in villages and towns, the advantages of cost-effectiveness and construction convenience are very prominent, making it the preferred solution for rural electrification in many developing countries.
